Review: Somebody To Love
Somebody To Love by Kristan Higgins
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Parker Welles is a single mother and a children's author. Life at the beginning is wonderful, she is a trust fund baby, & her book is turning into a movie. Bu then things goes downhill when her father ends up in jail. Her father ends up taking her money to pay off what damage he has done, and Parker ends up losing the house. To make matters worse her son is spending three weeks with his dad Ethan and his wife Lucy traveling. Parker finds out that her long lost aunt has left her a house and decides to go to Gideon's Cove, Maine to sell the house. So much for trying to sell the house right when she gets there though. The house is a dump and a shack that is falling apart. Her aunt was a hoarder and can barely move around in the house for so much stuff.
Then comes "Thing One" her father's lawyer. James ends up helping Parker with the house even though she is not very fond of him. Can they work out their differences and get along? Parker ends up getting a job at her cousin's flower shop and she ends up enjoying it. However, with the house coming along nice and her son coming home soon, will she stay or will she move back to Rhode Island?
I very much enjoyed both characters, they both have parents that you just want to shake and say "Wake UP!” Both families just got on my nerves, but that is the only thing in the book that irritated me.
Somebody to Love is a wonderful sweet read. I enjoyed this book from beginning to end. There were moments I would have tears in my eyes and then smiling cheering for the characters. I loved the setting in Gideon's Cove, Maine. It sounds like a nice quiet town where everyone knows everybody. I highly recommend this book!
